Les Odonates du Monde traitent de l'ordre des Odonatess.str., tels qu'ils se limitent aux Zygoptères, Céphalozygoptères Ŧ, Anisozygoptères et Anisoptères. Ceci correspond à peu près aux Euodonata Grimaldi & Engel, 2005 qui sont rangés au sein du super-ordre des Odonatoptera Lameere, 1900 (Odonatess.l.). Les plus anciens fossiles connus datent de la fin du Trias (~ 237-228 Ma) .
