Genre initialement monotypique représenté par Epithemis mariae réparti sur l'essentiel des Ghats occidentales (Inde), or une nouvelle espèce a été détectée sur la même chaîne, au niveau du Plateau Wayanad qui devrait être officialisée sous le nom d'Epithemis wayanadensis (Chandran & al. 2023).
