Jusqu'alors désigné sous Lyriothemis acigastra, cette espèce a été décrite en 2026 (Sawant & al. 2026).

Étymologie

Le nom keralensis est dérivée du Kerala, État indien où l'espèce a été découverte. Elle commémore la diversité exceptionnelle des odonates du Kerala.

Phénologie

Les imagos apparaissent au début de la mousson, fin mai-début juin et disparaissent fin août (Sawant & al. 2026).
