Rüpell & al. (2005) continuent de traiter ce taxon comme une sous-espèce de Calopteryx splendens s.l. et le situe au Moyen Orient (cf. Levante).

Éléments de description

Cette espèce semble pouvoir ressembler à des hybrides entre Calopteryx hyalina et Calopteryx intermedia source de confusion pour les Calopteryx en Turquie ([2005]).
